Standard Deduction Raised to ₹60,000? What We Know

While not yet official, several Finance Ministry sources have indicated that the standard deduction for salaried employees and pensioners may be increased to ₹60,000.

This would mean an extra ₹10,000 tax-free reduction for every salaried individual, potentially reducing tax outgo for those near the threshold.
